Abdullah Emhemed

Research Fellow

Personal Statement

I have been part of the Electronic and Electrical Engineering (EEE) department of the University of Strathclyde since 2006 as a PhD student and research assistant until 2010, and a research staff member since 2012.

My main research interests include modelling, simulation, and analysis of power system protection and dynamics in electromagnetic transients (EMT) simulation programmes. This includes low voltage DC distribution systems protection and safety, and off-line and real time dynamic modelling and analysis of AC power systems, HVDC systems, and offshore wind energy. In addition to my research work, I contribute to the EEE department's teaching on Electrical Machines and Control and Advanced Power System Analysis.

I continue to lead the University of Strathclyde international activities on LVDC systems, and joined by applications the IEC SEG4 and the IET TC2.4 technical committees. I have contributed to writing the IET LVDC Code of Practice, and currently supporting the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standard activities on LVDC distribution systems.
