Personal Statement

The goal of my research is to open novel scientific horizons by bringing together communications, multimedia, signal processing, machine learning, and energy via problem-solving research and through advanced user-centric design approaches.

My research broadly consists of developing novel theoretical foundations, algorithmic and system design solutions, as well as practical demonstrations for efficient acquisition, processing and communications of data. The work ranges from core signal/image processing, information and communication theory and machine learning research necessary for establishing performance limits and developing algorithms to practical system designs through implementation, visualization and user-centric design methods. I am particularly interested in energy-aware and environmentally-oriented information and communication technology (ICT): from low-power acquisition, processing, and communications, to application-driven data analysis for healthcare monitoring and smart homes/buildings.
